Build your own marine suspension seat mounting platform with these DXF cut files and PDF plans. This seat mount is designed to reduce wave impact, making for a more bearable ride on rough water. A mountain bike air shock provides suspension, and can be tuned via shock air pressure for different rider weights.

This is the second generation of BIP suspension seat platform, now 28% lighter than the original, uses half the hardware, and has fewer CNC cut parts to reduce build cost and manufacturing complexity.

The plans detail the step by step process of assembling the self aligning components that you are to have CNC cut from 0.125" / 3mm thick steel or stainless steel sheet (your preference). This design requires welding for assembly.

Parts list details all fasteners, bushings and optional shocks to use with the suspension seat.

Using a 210x55mm mountain bike air shock will result in a 3.5" vertical travel for the suspension seat mount. This is the recommended size.

The design has an integrated bump stop to reduce wear on the shock and is specified to use nylon or acetal bushings, but brass is an appropriate substitute in fresh water applications.
